Mandarin Learning Tools

I made these for my own use, but please feel free to use them yourself.  I have proofread each file, but would not be surprised to find a typo or two - please email me if you find any errors.  Thanks to Dr. Liu Li Chia for providing the vocabulary for the flash cards below.

I highly recommend this site: the advanced dictionary will read and translate the separate words and phrases from an entered sentence or paragraph. A real time-saver.

An extremely useful site! Among other things, will convert typed Chinese characters into the shufa style of your choice.

www.zhongwen.com

The seminal Character dictionary. Excellent for finding characters by their components.

CCDICT

A great dictionary for those hard-to-find older words.

203 Chengyu stories - 203 short chengyu stories in modern Mandarin, each with an accompanying translation of the characters in a pdf file.  Excellent reading practice. 75 MB zip file. There are occasional typographical errors - these are from the original files.  [Stories from http://cygs.cnwenhua.org/; translations from http://www.mdbg.net]
